Mimecast Update

Mimecast recently announced changes to their Outlook Add-in as a way to mitigate a possible security vulnerability while improving their protection and is recommending clients use their web portal. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2022.

Some of you currently enjoy the ability to access and manage your spam within the Outlook application. This change allows us to remind our clients that there are other ways to manage unwanted spam or validate good emails that have been flagged as questionable. The first is through a daily digest email (which can also be sent at multiple times each day) can be reviewed while emails are released, blocked, or permitted. The second way is through the Mimecast Web Portal. The portal can easily be accessed by logging in to login.mimecast.com and has a similar look and feel as the current add-in.

If you use Mimecast for your email encryptions, this change may affect you as well while sending secure encrypted messages. Going forward, your team will need to type “Encrypt” in the subject line or in the body of the email prior to sending an encrypted email.

Element will be working with our clients over the coming weeks to remove the Outlook Add-in to ensure that the vulnerability issue is resolved. If you would like us to adjust the time or number of digest emails received, please request the changes by opening a ticket with our Support Center: [email protected]. Finally, please feel free to share with your staff that they can access real time, on hold messages by utilizing the portal link listed above.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions as we try to move quickly and make these changes as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Element Team
